i have been so obsessed with the sixties lately
alternate title: mini dresses mini dresses mini dresses
here are some pics from my harddrive to make up for the wall of text i just posted:

the girl who was selling this pattern on etsy talked about how, during the sixties, she had a dress just like the blue one in the middle. when she wore it to the school dance, the hem-to-knee length was measured to make sure the dress wasn't too short; it turns out that the ruffle on the bottom had a zipper on it, and she unzipped it when she got onto the dance floor! pretty rad.

im strangely attracted to the kitschy leg-o-mutton sleeves on these dresses, but how to wear them without looking "renaissance faire," hmm...

sharon tate in "the fearless vampire killers." she's not mini dress related but i just had to include this since she looks so lovely here with her red hair and all. she was as beautiful as her murder was gruesome. as interesting as they are, i elected not to post the crime scene photos so please google them if you are so inclined. you're probably thinking "you sick freak why would you even consider posting them in the first place?" idk just thought it would liven this place up a little (i know that's ironic)

yelp-esque review
my bro and i were walking to arizmendi bakery for lunch when i spotted this in the middle of nowhere (nowhere being the commercially barren area on irving between 9th and 19th). we almost pissed our pants and had to check it out. yes indeed, it was a japanese dollar-store mecca in a neighborhood populated with sketchy variety shops. in the tradition of daiso and ichiban-kan, there are bentos, cutesy erasers, and snacks galore for 69c to $2-ish. i even spotted a stack of sectioned bead boxes you (delia) might like. and the lady who works there (alone) is beyond precious. she thanked us both times we came in (we went again after lunch) and enthusiastically received my poorly accented "arigatou" after she checked us out. i told her i would tell my friends about her store, so you guys better stop by and give her your patronage. im serious.

hbp movie
i watched it with my bro today and enjoyed it. went into the theater having forgotten everything about book six, so i wasn't aware of the drastic omissions until i got online. literalists will probably hate it. acting wasn't terrible and cinematography/soundtrack was great. danrad plays a very awkward harry potter but i like it that way.
on a sadder note, walter cronkite and henry allingham are dead. :(
