skirt and a bag

to make up for my lack of updates, this is going to be a semi-large decent-sized post and may be image heavy. too bad blogger doesn't have a cut feature like lj.

my finished pillowcase bag:

the pillowcase was 1.49 at thrifttown. yeah, shut up amy.

i wish i had used white thread instead of black (you can clearly see my messy seams). i'm not too satisfied with it but it has that rustic feel that makes it perfect for toting along picnic sandwiches and stuff.

here is my skirt in progress:

i used the marie pattern from burdastyle.

while i was sewing, i watched the bridge, a documentary about suicides at the golden gate bridge. pretty fascinating stuff. you can find the whole thing on youtube.

interestingly enough, i found out that the golden gate bridge isn't the biggest suicide spot in the world. it's actually aokigahara forest in japan. what i don't understand is why so many people would rather commit suicide in a forest than jump off a bridge. (yes i know that japan is the most suicidal nation in the world, but still). for the latter, you wouldn't even have to bring anything and death is instantaneous, whereas in the forest you have to bring a gun or hang yourself, which can damn the suicidee to a long, grueling death if it's not done properly. oh, the japanese.

on hanger:

on me:

excuse the random choice of shirt.

sunlight on face not intended. wannabe model pose very much intended.

i'm 70% satisfied as to how it turned out. the biggest problem is that it's much too big for me and i have to wear a belt over it. i'd also much rather have a wider waistband and (maybe) a shorter length.

also, i already hate blogger. the actual blogs look nice, but its look-and-feel interface is primitive and its features are annoying to use. it's so bad that i'm considering moving to typepad or something.
